Back after giving myself a month away from Fedi.
I'll attempt to curate my experience much more, starting with this account and instance.
I want comfy things in my life - I don't need to be adding stress and angst from my online interactions. We can do better. We should do better. Including myself.
My interests cover #tech, #photography, #biking, #motorsport, #fountainpen, and other things I will no doubt need to add here when I remember.
I touch computers in my spare time and self host things. Oh yeah so #selfhosting I guess.
In my other spare time I renovate my house and do #DIY stuff.
Oh and I (used to?) play music. #Guitar I still have and sometimes play, #Saxophone I used to have a couple of decades ago, I had 6 months of Drum lessons, and played Bass for our school band in Rockquest in the late 90's.
I have never done anything that cool since.
Oh I live in New Zealand, Aotearoa.

Yet most people still use #Google services. They talk about privacy, even attend #39c3, but stick with Chrome and Gmail.
Time for action! Firefox, @mailbox_org &c. and @kagihq are mature alternatives.
Stop putting it off. Every account you move chips away at Google's monopoly.

Alright, this will do then I think.
I won't be renewing quiescent.cafe when May next year rolls around, even though I do like the domain. $73 is a bit much (NZD).
That's how they get you though I guess, the first year is cheap! Maybe there will be a sale before then. I guess we'll see.
But I might just migrate everything over anyway.
Also VPS are getting more expensive and less reliable than I'd like (for what I'm willing to pay as a hobbyist anyway). If I want patchy reliability I might as well just host from home 😆
Im also on #GoToSocial this time. I've spun it up before to test, but never federated and used it. There seems to be enough folks using it just fine that I'll give it a stab.
I need to make the css the same as my blog I think, because I totally dont have enough to do... 🤔
