Back after giving myself a month away from Fedi.
I'll attempt to curate my experience much more, starting with this account and instance.
I want comfy things in my life - I don't need to be adding stress and angst from my online interactions. We can do better. We should do better. Including myself.
My interests cover #tech, #photography, #biking, #motorsport, #fountainpen, and other things I will no doubt need to add here when I remember.
I touch computers in my spare time and self host things. Oh yeah so #selfhosting I guess.
In my other spare time I renovate my house and do #DIY stuff.
Oh and I (used to?) play music. #Guitar I still have and sometimes play, #Saxophone I used to have a couple of decades ago, I had 6 months of Drum lessons, and played Bass for our school band in Rockquest in the late 90's.
I have never done anything that cool since.
Oh I live in New Zealand, Aotearoa.

Today is National Punctuation Day! So let’s talk about the interrobang. “What the heck is that‽” you ask/exclaim?
In 1962, advertising agency director Martin K. Speckter had seen one too many sentences ending with ?!. So he suggested that we generate a new punctuation character called “interrobang.” He wrote up his recommendation for the publication TYPEtalks.

I just love the Explorer shape (being a #Metallica fan back in the 90's *might* be part of the explanation), but only the "original" one... Except for this awesome design by ESP!
I pushed back for a while as I didn't *need* a new #guitar (I already have a '91 ObG Explorer), but hey, #CarpeDiem baby 😉

pjf@cloudisland.nzI've been trying to understand how antennas work, and it's all deep eldritch shit. Make sure your antenna is an exact fraction of the length of the silent whispers you wish to hear from the void. Make sure the antenna has a solid plane to bounce the whispers off, but somehow you can get away with just a couple of wires that suggests where a solid plane would go. Make sure your cable isn't a cursed length, which attracts unwanted attention.
RF engineers are heckin' magicians.

It doesn't take much! Our simplest show is made with a webcam and some stock footage (our most complex shows use multiple 4k cinema cameras, but we almost never air those!!)
