The new is actually worth listening. Didn't like much about them before. Even that it is uberproduced af.

@RandomMusickMayhem I've always wondered what people mean by "overproduced". What does it mean? "Too perfect?" "Too much aligned with common taste of music"?

@thomas @RandomMusickMayhem too perfect, too artificially corrected in post.

@thomas @RandomMusickMayhem it’s weirdly hard to explain (now that I’m trying to do it…). It’s a bit like a heavily photoshopped image - technically it might be “perfect” but somewhere along the way the editing removes something integral.

This isn’t an argument from purity - every song is produced; every image is edited. But there’s a “know it when I see it” aspect to taking it too far.

(Weirdly, I like a ton of electronic music which is basically *only* production, but still manages to not sound over-produced)

@thomas Clinical or "artificial". This can be perfect for some genres like Industrial Metal, but it has always bothered me with Deathcore and the like. Sometimes a little less "boom" would be better.
