"Going thirty-eight Dan, chill the fuck out, mow your damn lawn and sit the hell down"

---

Back after giving myself a month away from Fedi.

I'll attempt to curate my experience much more, starting with this account and instance.
I want comfy things in my life - I don't need to be adding stress and angst from my online interactions. We can do better. We should do better. Including myself.

My interests cover #tech, #photography, #biking, #motorsport, #fountainpen, and other things I will no doubt need to add here when I remember.
I touch computers in my spare time and self host things. Oh yeah so #selfhosting I guess.
In my other spare time I renovate my house and do #DIY stuff.

Oh and I (used to?) play music. #Guitar I still have and sometimes play, #Saxophone I used to have a couple of decades ago, I had 6 months of Drum lessons, and played Bass for our school band in Rockquest in the late 90's.
I have never done anything that cool since.

Oh I live in New Zealand, Aotearoa.

I'm not a big fan of the Naked Gun franchise. I don't dislike it

Same with

But I'm now a huge fan of their campaign (this just came out today)

mhoye (temporarily spooky)

We joke about vibe coding but we’re at the tail end of 30 years of vibe management, vibe leadership and vibe capitalization in this industry and we have to solve the real problem.

The issue with this idea of consent with robots.txt as part of CC signals is the huge elephant in the room.

The current state of the web shows that AI crawlers do not respect robots.txt.

Tech bros don't really believe in consent.

I'm so disappointed with Creative Commons.

I am fully blind. Sometimes when I meet a new person for the first time and they ask why, I'll tell them that I lost my sight from masturbating too much as a teenager. My sighted friends tell me the looks on their faces are priceless.

@nigel There’s been some suggestions made already, so far Innovv look promising. Haven’t looked into the trustability of the company yet though.

Steam just added screen reader support in the latest Big Picture Mode beta. On the Deck. On SteamOS. On Linux.
Not hacked in. Not community-patched. Built-in. From Valve.
There's an accessibility tab. There's a screen reader. There's high-contrast mode, UI scaling, color filters, reduced motion, and more.
I can’t believe I’m saying this but: I need a Steam Deck now.
Accessibility isn’t just coming to gaming — it’s here, and it’s official.
Let’s make some noise so they keep going.

Looking for advice for a “dash cam” solution for the motorbike. Preferably something simple, suited for 30 to 60 min commutes but also, if I get me a Valkyrie or FJR, longer rides. Definitely needs to be affordable. Anyone have any tips?

(Boosts welcome.)

Here you can kind of see how a hummingbird’s wings don’t move in just an up-and-down plane but more of a figure 8. This was at 1/1250 shutter and there’s still blur. But surprisingly simple to photograph because of how stable they are at full speed hovering.

With video game prices rising, AI is a critical tool for developers and gamers alike.

By seeing which games use AI, gamers can save money by not buying those games.

What bothers me nowadays:
- now are always meant to be targeted, based on as much and as private data possible. and companies make us believe it’s either targeted ads or they can’t survive and offer their services. They ignore that there is another way. And they want us to believe there is none.
- That it appears to me that all companies now want to earn money with ads and/or collecting and selling data. Sometimes I would like them to focus on the product and not on how they can collect data. If my toaster only works with ads on the display or with a cloud account, I think it tells a story. If your oven only works with a , I think it’s too far and too late. And don’t forget: The cost for ads has an impact on the price of the product.
