thereâs another thing about AI that nobody talks about. I see it further separating us from one another. Social media has isolated many of us. AI is training people to rely on it rather than friends, forums, professionals etc. Itâll be the next phase of the loneliness epidemic.
Does anyone know why Stephanie Sterling stopped posting videos on YT? I checked the website and donât see any updates and I wonder if I missed an announcement.
Wow, Zoom is really leaning into dark patterns to make you install their app. Which, with their security track record is never happening on a computer that I even vaguely care about.

I feel sorry for the people who outsource their writing to âAIâ. They will never discover the true value of what writing has to offer: debugging yourself, structuring your thinking, letting your messy thoughts emerge from the depths of your brain, to name a few things.
Even sadder is when people say âI am bad at writing so I use the AIâ.
Practice is where the value is! No one is suddenly good at anything! Please, allow yourself to mess up, make mistakes and discover things!
Some folks (far more than I'd like or have expected) have been using tools to bypass email gates and paywalls for my writing, and posting links on Bluesky / Mastodon and in various Discord servers.
So here's how I'm responding.
If this dog isnât allowed in the park, screw it, I donât want to go either.

Windows 11 out of the box experience is terrible and getting worse.
What if "the cloud" â other people's computers â were our computers collectively, as a public utility of sorts. And why self hosting millions of personal "clouds" is not the answer.
"But through the process, I realized how privileged I am to have the skills required for digital sovereignty. I realized how unattainable, unsustainable, and unrealistic self-hosting is as a mass solution to the problems we face. I realized that self-reliance isn't freedom â it's the luxury of retreating from a system that others can't escape."
"Imagine a world where your library card includes 100GB of encrypted file storage, photo-sharing and document collaboration tools, and media streaming services â all for free. Your data is encrypted end-to-end, but is shareable to anyone on any other service through standardized protocols."

"Specialization is attractive. Many famous people you know are specialists. [...] Specialization feels like a more predictable and measurable path."
"The world needs more hybrid people because the world is getting more complex. Specialists are important because they help us push the limits in each field. But we also need people who can see the big picture, find unexpected connections, and guide the worldâs efforts."
âSo under 'hobbies' you have listed âprogramming'?â
âYes!â
âBut I also see it listed here under 'things you despise with all your being'â
âYes thatâs correctâ
i think youtube should take their role as part of the yt-dlp supply chain more seriously and not introduce breaking changes that force patching of yt-dlp
The vintage internet was also much better than this insidious garbage we have now.
