there’s another thing about AI that nobody talks about. I see it further separating us from one another. Social media has isolated many of us. AI is training people to rely on it rather than friends, forums, professionals etc. It’ll be the next phase of the loneliness epidemic.

Does anyone know why Stephanie Sterling stopped posting videos on YT? I checked the website and don’t see any updates and I wonder if I missed an announcement.

Wow, Zoom is really leaning into dark patterns to make you install their app. Which, with their security track record is never happening on a computer that I even vaguely care about.

I feel sorry for the people who outsource their writing to “AI”. They will never discover the true value of what writing has to offer: debugging yourself, structuring your thinking, letting your messy thoughts emerge from the depths of your brain, to name a few things.

Even sadder is when people say “I am bad at writing so I use the AI”.

Practice is where the value is! No one is suddenly good at anything! Please, allow yourself to mess up, make mistakes and discover things!

Some folks (far more than I'd like or have expected) have been using tools to bypass email gates and paywalls for my writing, and posting links on Bluesky / Mastodon and in various Discord servers.

So here's how I'm responding.

Just a reminder that the original Wonderful Wizard of Oz, written right at the turn of the century, did not have that FUCKING "it was all a dream!" ending.
