Playing with darktable again so I don’t have to dual-boot. It is not terrible, but has some niggles still; namely slow loading between images, and highlight reconstruction for blown-out areas sucks. It may be that my camera isn’t profiled correctly and so the default black and white-points are incorrect, but it is a frustration to work through and rectify. I did use darktable from 2019 to 2022, so know my way around it.
Anyway, here are the images: https://www.swansinflight.nz/taranaki/20250619_matariki_fol/

Tagging @elaterite @ewen @Vulpy @shom as the previous post is really me following on from the discussion yesterday and giving darktable a chance again.
We're lucky to have a bunch of talent on the Fediverse to share their Darktable skills :)
@darktable sorry I know I am being overly critical! I love the project, I just need to work through my pain points to get things processed faster. I don’t mean it as a complaint against the project and the people behind it, just that I need to process images faster and other things can do that - so that has been my reason for using other projects. As a consumer/user of FOSS I don’t feel like I have a right to developers time to request things like optimising load times between images in darkroom view. It’s been a few years since I jumped on the pixls.us forum, I should get involved again.
